DRI

Established in 1959, the Desert Research Institute (DRI) is a nonprofit research campus and a component of the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE), uniquely blending academia and entrepreneurship. More than 460 DRI research faculty and staff conduct basic and applied research on environmental issues for industry, government, educational organizations, and the public. From primary locations in Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada, the work of DRI scientists benefits Nevada, the nation, and the world.

DRI scientists and engineers are generating leading-edge technologies, software, and methods to address the many environmental science questions that can be answered only through development of new approaches. This development forms the basis for a vigorous emphasis on patenting, copyrighting, and licensing technologies and software conceived at DRI. DRI encourages commercial development of inventions and innovative, scientific works for public use and benefit.
